Description

The Georgian Power Sector Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment document, the Khudoni Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and the Preliminary Environmental and Social Screening report, prepared under the World Bank infrastructure pre-investment facility grant assistance project, have been reviewed by Association Green Alternative and CEE Bankwatch Network. The World Bank considers Khudoni to be a high value energy sector investment project for long-term purposes in the Georgia- Joint Needs Assessment document that was conducted after the events of August 2008 in Georgia. The project aims to prepare necessary documentation for the construction of the 202-metre Khudoni hydrological power plant (HPP) in the high mountains of west Georgia - Svaneti, located two thousand metres above sea level on the Enguri River.
