The struggle to instate rule of law and trigger effective governance in the north of Kosovo
Policy Report No. 01/2013

Publisher: Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS), Kosovo

Date: January 2013

Volume: 33 pages, pdf

Description

The Policy Report illustrates the current situation regarding the freedom of movement in the north, examines the interdependent nature of the challenges there, and offers recommendations and a list of policy steps to be taken to ensure the freedom of movement in the north of Kosovo. The Policy Report concludes by arguing that EULEX, KFOR, the Government of Kosovo, and in particular the EU as a facilitator of the Dialogue, must pursue a strategy to address the remaining physical barricade over the Iber Bridge, the remaining ‘checkpoints’ that deter rule of law structures and customs officials from traveling freely throughout the north, and border control along Kosovo‘s porous northern border.
