Description

The traditional food products and Bosnian dishes are interwoven with the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country located on the crossroads between East and West. The quality of the autochthonous product of a particular region as well as the authenticity of a product’s origin are determined by geographical origin, originality and traditional reputation of the food. Traditional food products are mainly produced through the use of conventional technology with features often identical with the ones used in organic food production. Traditional food producers, i.e. typical food products producers, exclude a possibility of using food originating from genetically modified organisms. Both traditional food production and eating behavior and culture are under threat of extinction due to modern eating habits as the result of globalization and neoliberalism as well as the value systems based on them.
