The research was aimed to collect through a desk research all relevant information related to the field of monitoring government policies concerning civil society development and the civil society sector itself in eight European countries. This document is a review of the currently available literature and information, the related policies and mechanisms applied by various governments and relevant subjects. Literature review concentrated on documents available in English, Hungarian, Czech and Slovak, including comparative studies and reports as well as materials related to the selected countries. Translation into English from other languages was also used when deemed necessary to develop a fuller understanding of the documents.
