On March 22, 2011, over eighty countries supported the statement on “Ending Acts of Violence and Human Rights Violations Based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” in the United Nations Human Rights Council. Among the countries to support this statement was the Republic of Macedonia, which signed the joint statement “Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” in the General Assembly on December 18, 2008.
